Farmer GM Alfalfa Protest, Ontario, Oct 2012
On October 24, 2012, 120 farmers and supporting consumers protested industry plans to pave the way for GM alfalfa in Ontario. Farmers gathered outside an industry meeting that was designing a "coexistence" plan for GM alfalfa."No Way! No GM Hay"

Atlantic Canada Events to Stop GM Altantic Salmon 2011
October 24-27, 2011, CBAN and local groups coordinated public forums in Charlottetown, Fredericton, Halifax and St. John's, with experts from the United States. "Genetically Modified Atlantic Salmon: Atlantic Canada is at the centre of the global controversy over GM fish".
Pig Rally: UofG Stop "Enviropig"
On February 9, 2011, students, farmers and consumers rallied at the University of Guelph in Ontario. Over 100 people braved -16C to say no to the genetically engineered pig developed at the university, called "Enviropig". The final vote on Bill C-474 happened that day AND Members of Parliament were on the Guelph campus...See some great photos for inspiration.
Haitian Farmers Protest Monsanto's Seed Donation, June 4 2010
Around 10,000 Haitian peasant farmers marched Friday June 4 to protest Monsanto's donation of 475 tones of hybrid corn and vegetable seeds. See pictures here from Haiti as well as from Solidarity actions in Montreal and Seattle. Haiti's farmers asked groups around the world to show solidarity and “Struggle Against Monsanto and its associates.” For more information on the Haitian farmer call for solidarity and for more information on Monsanto click here.
CBAN organized a solidarity action in Montreal with Union Paysanne (member of CBAN and Via Campesina), Action SOS Haiti, and Haiti One Seed One Land. A delegation of 4 met with the Consul General of Haiti in Montreal for half an hour to discuss the issue. There was also a solidarity action in Seattle.
La Via Campesina Solidarity Action
On November 8th, 2007, CBAN coordinated actions with Members in Montreal, Ottawa and Arva Ontario to denounce the killing of a Via Campesina organizer in Brazil by militia on Syngenta-owned land while protesting genetic engineering with 200 other farmers.
Alaska to PEI: Alaskan State Rep. Geran Tarr Visits PEI to Protest the GM Salmon
On April 17 and 18, 2013 CBAN and the PEI group Islanders Say No to Frankenfish hosted a PEI visit from Alaskan State Representative Geran Tarr. The Government of Alaska unanimously passed a resolution against the GM salmon. Rep. Tarr met with the Premier of PEI, Opposition members, and spoke at a public event. The company AquaBounty refused a request from Rep Tarr to tour their research facility in PEI but we coordinated a visit to the site - which is the proposed global GM salmon egg production factory.
